Born into the automotive world and never really left it.

The Founder

Growing up in the middle of England, Rowland's dad ran a garage and petrol station. Cars came and went constantly — AC Cobras, MGs, things you just don't see on an ordinary forecourt — and to him at ten years old, that was just normal life. A friend of his father's would occasionally pull up in a Rosso Corsa Ferrari BBi, which caused quite a stir on an ordinary street. But the car that really got under his skin was a dark blue Aston Martin V8. For a ten year old, it was simply the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

Looking back, he was lucky — without really knowing it, he was getting an education in what made a truly great car. That early exposure to future classics and the luxury end of the automotive world never left him, and in many ways it's the reason this business exists.

Crashing a F430

Away from the lens, the passion runs just as deep. He has owned a Porsche 911, drawn to it for the same reason everyone is — the design has never needed improving. A regular at Formula 1 race days, he is drawn less by the spectacle and more by the engineering and the noise. Track days with friends are a fixture, the kind where the conversation in the paddock is just as important as the laps themselves. There are stories along the way too — among them, the time he hired a Ferrari F430 for the day, lent it to a friend, who promptly introduced it to a dual carriageway verge — remains a story best told in person.

AUTOMOTIVE producer

Filming for Range Rover

That instinct for what makes a great car eventually found a professional outlet. Over the course of 17 years working as a producer and photographer, he has built a body of automotive work that spans some of the most respected names in the industry — Range Rover, Defender, Audi, Lexus among them.

From shooting a Defender deep inside Middleton Mine in Derbyshire to filming in the Italian Alps for Lexus, the work takes him to places most photographers don't get to go, with briefs that demand both technical precision and a genuine feel for the subject. It's that same eye — formed on a garage forecourt in Middle England — that he brings to every shoot.

"I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself."
